Page 10 -- The Glenville Sheriff's Dept. Investigations in progress The Gilmer County Sheriff's De- partment has been working on sev- eral theft investigations over the past 30 days. First of all, Department officials con- firm that two stolen vehicles with Florida tags have been recovered in the county. They were a two-wheel drive 1996 Chevy Blazer and a 1996 Dodge Ram Utility Van. The investigation is continuing as it involves at least a two-state probe and the Magist rate's Court reports that no charges have been filed against anyone relative to this incident. Secondly, in late January and in a separate incident, the Sheriff's De- partment recovered five stolen chain saws and two four-wheelers (a Kawasaki Bayou 4 X 4 and Yamaha Moto 4) from the home of an elderly and incapacitated man's property. "He didn't even know that they were there," a Department spokesperson states. Preston County police authorities are handling the arrest of the suspects because the stolen goods were brought there from Maryland before being transferred to Gilmer County. Finally, the Sheriff's Dept. solved a breaking and entering case at Glen- ville Elementary School that happened in late January. Two juveniles were charged and are in the court adjudica- tion at this time. City Police Traffic Reports On Tues., Feb. 11 at 2:32 p.m., Martha Anne Meyer, 15, of Glenville, was driving a 1994 Jeep, owned by David or Alice Meyer, which slid into a car driven by Erica Dawn Ball, 22, also of Glenville. The Ball car, owned by Louise or Robert Ball, was stopped at the stoplight. Because of snow cov- ered highways, the Meyer vehicle slid, causing minor damages to both ve- hicles. No citations were.given. Correction In the February 13 issue, we re- ported that Eugene Brown struck Leonard Ellyson on Main Street in Glenville.
