Greg Parsons, General Manager for the Stonewall Resort, said, "In the past, only 17 of the 34 campsites were available for rent in advance. Many times guests would get to the property only to find the 'first-come/first-serve' campsites taken. We've made this change to allow guests more freedom in planning their vacations." Parsons said the Bri~Camp- ground features an activity shelter, play ground, restrooms and bathhouse. Campsites are equipped with elec- tricity and water sewage hookup. Kiss-A-Pig Event The American Diabetes Associa- tion (ADA), along with the Charles- ton Gold Dome Lions Club is once again hosting the wildest, most excit- ing and most comical fundraising event ever! During February/March 2003, we will hold our 4th Annual KISS A PIG (KAP) FUNdraising event to raise research dollars for a cure for diabetes and dollars for the Lions Club char'tics and projects. The KAP Kick-Off was held at Center Court of Charleston Town Center Mall on February 12th al noon. The KAP KAss-Off coincides with American Diabetes Alert Day on March 25th at the same Iocalion and time. Lions Clubs in West Virginia and all over the world heavily concentrate on projects to help the blind and visu- ally impaired. Jim McMillon, Fund Raising Chairman for the Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club (and a dia- betic), said, "We as Lions members are aware of the problems that diabe- tes can cause on sight and we are pleased to embrace a project that will help make everyone aware of diabe- tes and its potential complications. Since the pig was the first source of insulin in 1921, we recognize and really love the pig (enough to kiss it); hence, we are willing to support 'Kiss A Pig' for diabetes awareness)' Up to ten candidates will campaign to solicit the most votes for their cam- paign. Each dollar donation counts as a vote. Whoever garners the most votes gets the honor of kissing the pig. Several candidates have been secured and we are all ready for the kick-off and kiss-off celebrations. Candidates this year include Jim McMillon of the Gold Dome Lions Club, Leeza G lazier (WOWK), Shel ly Slater (WSAZL Julie Burns and Paul Armiger (St. Francis Hospital), Jen- nifer Cottrill (WCHS), and Dr. Carrie Lakin. For more information about diabe- tes or if you are interested in becom- ing a Kiss a Pig candidate, please contact Betsic Dobbs at i-800-DIA- BETES (I-800-342-2383 ext. 4683) or Jim McMillon of the Lions Club at 304-722-6767.
