Page 10A -- The Glenville Democrat/Pathfinder -- Thursday, March 12, 2009 !:i:i::: 'CANA' IS A SERIOUS MARRIAGE STORY When one hears of Cana, he or she no doubt thinks back to the New Testament story of "the marriage feast." But, to John Whitehill (pictured above), CANA is an organization that he established as an MBA student at Carnegie Mellon University several years ago in order to help rLiral areas in Appalachia get wireless broadband internet access. In fact, C.A.N.A. stands for the "Center of Appalachian Network Access." He, along with his team of Carnegie Mellon students, came to Glenville and installed a wireless broadband system at Glenville State College and in that area.of the city with grants from the Benedum Foundation, ARC and several private donors. On the other hand, and of late, he and his lady friend, Trish Rameriz (pictured above), have been talking more of the former Cana than the latter. In fact, they've set their marriage date for Sat., Nov. 28, 2009. The wedding has been their main topic of conversation. And, love couldn't happen to a more deserving couple: they're both professional people, have many similar interests, including attending operas and theatrical productions, helping the disadvantaged in the Pittsburgh area, and seeing fine arts exhibits. Here, they are enjoying a walk through the Henry Clay Frick Museum on a recent winter's day, and sharing their joy with this publisher-- a kindness that he deeply appreciated. Best wishes to Trish and John for much happiness! The facility is now used as a shelter and half-way house. ITMANN The ltmann Company Store (pictured above) is located in the Wyoming County town of Itmann, named after its founder, coal baron I. T. Mann. This store, along with its company offices, is an architectural gem, which is currently being saved under several governmental grants. It is one of the interesting historical stops along the Coal Heritage Highway, which runs from Beckley to the Mullens-ltmann area, before heading farther south to Welch, War, and back to Bluefield.
