"Figures prepared by my office indicate a steady increase in the number of new corporations from 2,385 in 1973. to 2.692 in 1975. Conversely, the number of cor- porations dissolving has decreased from 648 to 549 during the same time period." McCartney continued by saying that "the creation of the free enterprise system in America was one of the basic reasons for the founding of our nation, and to this day provides the strength for our democracy." Included in this amount was literature on the Appalachian Culture Course to be held at Glenville State College in conjunction with the West Virginia Folk Festival. The Folk Festival itself was publicized through the more than one thousand Country Roads Travel Council brochures distributed at the show. Cedar Creek State Park. which is also included in the travel Council's brochures received publicity and inquiries. Steven W. Nicely, executive director of the regional tourist promotion organization, commented that of all the shows he has attended, the visitors to the East Central Ohio Show were the most selective in the literature they picked up. "You did not see people coming through and picking up everything, and because of this, I feel the impact of our efforts will be much greater." Nicely stated. Nicely went on to say that the events which supplied literature to this show and others should see an increase in their attendance this year. Besides distributing literature for regional tourist attractions, the Country Roads Travel Council also supplies technical assistance in programming and promotion, is producing a thirty minute color film on this region, maintains over one hundred literature racks throughout the area. publishes a traveler's tour guide to the Country Roads region, and handles inquiries and requests for information from throughout the eastern United States.
