Rural schools benefit from grant West Virginia Public Broadcasting will help rural schools expand their digital technology resources through a $1,660,000 grant from tic United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The g~ant is part of USDA's Rural Development Telecommunications Program. This project will add digital trans- mission to the network's analog trans- lators, allowing West Virginia Public Broadcasting to provide wireless broadband technology via its broad- cast transmission to 29 schools that are to be equipped with digital receiv- ers. The schools are located in these counties: Berkeley, Brooke, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Mineral, Mor- gan, Ohio, Pleasants, Ritchie, Wirt and Wood. These schools will be the furst in the state capable of receiving content through this technology. West Virginia Public Broadcasting advances education, culture and citi- zenship through high-quality pro- gramming and services.
