C: Dr. Byron I. f Chemistry: L employee at k Bar: Maude April 29, 1976 The (,hmville l)emocrat/PathFmder It3; State College, retirees honored at banquet April 23 A native of Mill Creek in that county, Dr. Miller earned his undergraduate degree at Concord College in 1941• his Master•s Degree at Northwestern University• and his PhD at Ohio State University in 1959. He is married to the former Rosalea Poling. She taught English and French at Glenville High and Gilmer County tfigh School and is also retired. During the current academic year. Dr. Miller served as the Faculty three terms on the "l',Jwn C, mm'il ol Glenville and is an active member ot the Glenville Rotary Club. Dr. Turner began his 29-year teaching career at Glenville State in 1946 following four years of teaching at Alum Bridge. lane Lew. and Walkersville. In his remarks following the presentation of certificates and gifts. Dr. Turner explained that he had A. Sc.,:kman, also on the Snack liar staff: and Lula A. Fittro, House Director at Louis Bennett Hall. Chairman of the Language Division since 1954. Dr. Miller will compJete 28 years uf teaching at GSC this year. He joined the GSC staff as an instructor in English in September 1946 after teaching for two years at Pickens High School and at Homestead Junior High in Dailey. both in Randolph County. TO VOTERS for non-partisan Board of Education, to meet all voters in person. Board of Regents and served as President of the Council. He was the first President of the FAD. and held that post for two years. He also was the first President of the GSC chapter of the American Association of University Professors, and is a past President of the W. Va. Association of College English Teachers. Outside of GSC, Dr. Miller served accepted the position of chemistry professor at GSC with the intent of "staying iBst one year." He has been teaching chemistry, physical science and audio-visual at GSC ever since. A 1934 graduate of Glenville State. Dr. Turner completed his Master•s Degree in Secondary Science and Public School Education at W. Va. University in 1940 and his PhD in Science Education at Columbia University in 1952.
