In addition to the balloon launch on Fri., Apr. 27, they had "Take 5" activities each day to encourage parents to slow down and take just five minutes to participate in a fun activity with their child(ren). They provided materials so that parents could paint, read, make puppets, enjoy a healthy snack and plant a flower with the kids. OK Legislature Expected to Declare 'Life Begins at Conception' The Oklahoma House of Represen- tatives is expected to pass a bill de- claring that human life begins at con- ception and extending the full protec- tion of the law to all human beings from the moment of conception. The Senate passed an earlier ver- sion of the Personhood Act in Febru- ary and has promised to approve the House version. Governor Mary Fallin is expected to sign it. Ironically, the people's House passed the bill, as the Center for Reproductive Rights and the ACLU are fighting in court to prevent a people's vote on a similar constitutional initiative. Liberty Counsel is defending Personhood Oklahoma to protect the right of all Oklahomans to vote on the proposed constitutional amendment. Oklahoma is the first state to con- sider both a state statute and a consti- tutional amendment addressing the rights of the unborn simultaneously. "The right to life is the right of all rights," said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel "Without the right to life, there are no other rights. The Personhood bill specifically instructs that all state laws are to be interpreted in a manner ac- knowledging the legal rights of the unborn as equal to the rights of other citizens," Staver continued. "It thus extends equal protection to all classes of citizens," he concluded. Liberty Counsel is an international nonprofitlitigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family since 1989, by providing pro bonoassistance and representation 24 32 I i 50 52 61 66 i THEME: MOTHER'S [ PA'I( ACROSS 1.
