Fans and riders enjoy horse show d, pite heat Over 250 persons turned out on a sweltering hot. sunny Sunday for Aunt Minnie's Farm and Park Horse Show at Stumptown. While horses, ponies and riders cavorted in the ring, onlookers tried to keep cool with gallon jugs Of juice, parasols, summer gear. and pints of sun creme. The seasonal rains held off long enough and the day-long show and competition ended at sunset. The following day, a torrential rain storm flooded the park. Show judge was Bill Allen of Coleville. Ohio. And announcers Leonard Hardway and Clark Minney had their hands filled calling 22 categories of competition. For those who couldn't bear the 90-degree temperatures, there was a nearby pond for swimming. Needless to say. the pond was almost as popular a spot as the corral. Competition resulted in the follow- ing: PET PONIES - Teresa Rutherford, Star, 1st place; Teresa Kinder, Sugar Crook, 2nd place; Mark Grose, Prince, 3rd place; Doug Morris, Honey Bun, 4th place; Bobby Caruthers, Cocoa, 5th place.
