RELAY FOR LIFE FUNDRAISER Karmen's Crew Relay for Life team will be sponsoring a dance at the 33 Country Club on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. There will be 50/50 drawings, raffle tickets, and a Chinese auction. All proceeds go to the Gilmer County Relay for Life. FREE ONE DAY FAMILY CON- FERENCE West Virginia Family Leadership First, a statewide group which supports and encourages families to speak for themselves and others, will sponsor a free, one-day training titled "Cel- ebrating Families" at the YWCA in Fairmont on Wednesday, June 10. The training will include workshops on various topics, including: State Earned Income Tax Credit; Family, Advocacy, Support, and Training; In- dividual Education Plans (IEPs), Ado- lescent Behavior; and True Colors. The YWCA is located at 2019 Pleas- ant Valley Road in Fairmont, with reg- istration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The conference will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Rondal and I attended Audie's funeral at the Ebenezer Baptist Church at Orma, in Calhoun County Audie grew up in the Orma community, but he raised his family in Dalton, OH. Audie's father, Ira Minney, was my grandfather. He was one of the orga- nizers of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Ira, his second wife, Myrtle Siers, and Audie are all buried in the church cemetery. The Normantown School Alumni Reunion was held last Saturday. At- tendance was down, possibly because Memorial Day was early this year, and there is a lot of sickness. Daughter Jo Ann resigned as trea- surer ofthe alumni; she had served for 15 years. Two members of my 1946 graduat- ing class, Charles Currey and I, repre- sented our 1946 class.
