Truth Or Tradition?/ l li;i: The Keys Of The Kingdom. The Apostle Peter was given the keys to | the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 16: 18-19). • Those keys were used to open the doors to The Church on the Day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2. In telling folks for the first time how to have sins forgiven Peter said: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38). In Order To Or Because Of?. What does the word "for" mean here? Repent and be baptized because your sins have already been forgiven, or in order to have them forgiven? A parallel use of the word is found in Matthew 26:28, when Jesus said: "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Was the blood shed because sins were already forgiven (then why did He die on the cross), or in order to obtain remission of sins? Noah And The Ark. "By faith Noah...prepared an ark to the saving of his house..." (Hebrews 11:7). Did Noah build the ark because he was already saved from the flood, or in order to be saved? Israel And The Red Sea. "By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned." (Hebrews 11:29). Did Israel cross the Red Sea because they were already delivered from the Egyptians, or in order to be delivered? Israel And Jericho. "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days." (Hebrews I 1:30).' Did Israel match around Jericho because the city had already been captured, or in order to take the city? Naaman And Leprosy. "Then went he down, and dipped himselfseven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." (2 Kings 5:14). Did Naaman dip in the waters of the Jordan because he had already been cleansed, or in order to be cleansed? What do you think? Salvation Is By Faith Only ..... Truth Or Tradition?
