The Rathbone Bible dates back to the founding of the fraternal and patriotic society in the late 1860s. Here, the ceremonial team in their full regalia, who come to Glenville from many states, prepares to induct six new candidates. Altogether about 55 people attended the festivities and meal. tn the back row (center, black hat) is Bob Woodford, the ceremony's master-at-arms and a past state Pythian chief executive. Of the six inductees, the third from the left is Austin Nicholas (plaid shirt) and the one standing on the line's far right, John Shaver (white shirt), both being from Harmony Lodge. The other candidates in the photo are not from this county. Other Gilmer County brothers participating but not pictured were Chadie Woodford, Supreme Trustee; Pat Nestor, the state's Grand Secretary; and Loring King, Grand Outer Guard.
