Sorry I didn't get my column writ- ten last week, but we have had two really busy weeks. This picture was taken at Gwen's 80th birthday party in 2006. Last Thursday, I attended the viewing of friend and schoolmate, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Postalwait, in Arnoldsburg. Gwen grew up and raised her fam- ily in Gilmer County, but she had lived in Mineral Wells for several years. Gwen was my daughter Regina's grandmother-in-law. We saw lots of relatives and friends at her viewing. We also lost another schoolmate, Bed Kimble. I attended school with Bed, and we often got flowers and vegetable plants at Berl and Carors greenhouse. We will miss both Bed and Gwen. Son Danny's daughter, Amanda, spent two weeks with me. While helping in the hay, she lost a toenail; accidents are always scary. Danny and family spent two days with me last week, when he came to get Amanda. He also visited his sis- ters, Jo Ann and Marina, and brother, Tim. On Sunday, we had the Oak Grove Church Homecoming, with dinner in the church pavilion. Daughter Jo Ann is collecting information on the veter- ans who are buried in the cemetery. On Sundav afternoon, dauehter Jo a motel. The next morning at breakfast, they learned just what a small world we live in sometimes: Gilmer County retired barber, Jim Fitzwater, and his wife, Janice, had spent the night in the same motel! Regina and Todd vaca- tioned in the Ohio Amish country, and Jo Ann and Mike drove to Michi- gan, saw the sights, and visited with Mike's sister, Christine. This week, son Tim and family have been camping in his new camper at Seneca Rocks and Holly River. On Monday, daughter Marina and husband Roger attended a church meeting in southern West Virginia and spent the night there. Most of my family were on vacation this week. Last week, the NHS Class of 1964 held its 45th year class reunion in the Senior Center. They all seemed to have a good time. Classmate Donna Brannon and hus- band, John, did not get to the class reunion. Just before they planned to start home, the hospital told them to wait a little while. They then in- formed them that Donna's long- awaited liver transplant had become available. The whole class was ex- cited for Donna and John. Former Gilmer County resident, Orden Dobbins, celebrated his 90th birthday on July 21. Orden and his wife. Elizabeth Hardman Dobbins. " Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?" Matthew 15:3 The Kingdom Of Christ Is Future...Truth Or Tradition? One of the most popular teachings in the religious world today isl that ChriSt is coming back to earth to establish His kingdom, and will reign for a thousand years here on earth, from Jerusalem. Is that Truth or Tradition? The Beginning Of The Kingdom. "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed..." (Daniel 2:44). Bible scholars all agree that "these kings" refer to the Roman emperors and the days of the Roman Empire. The kingdom of God would be established during the days of the Roman Empire, and that empire fell several centuries ago. Even if there were to arise another Roman Empire, as many believe, would their kings be the same as "these kings" Daniel spoke about? The End Of The Kingdom. Speaking of the resurrection, Paul writes: "But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put Y PONTIAC .... 276 East Main Street, SPENCER C304) .7-3470 1-800-649-4931 REGULAR HOURS: Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. www.spencerautogroup.corn Sat. 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Closed Sunday HOUSE I i 2001 Chew Camaro Z28 2006 Chew Impala 2007 Chew Crew cab 4x4 2004 Chew Tahoe LS 4x4 2006 Chew Malibu I.,T 2006 Chew X-Cab Z-71 2008 Honda Accord I, X-P 2005 Chew Impala 2001 Toyota 4-Runner 2007 Ford Fusion SE- AWD 2005 Chew Malibu LS V6 2007 Mazda 5 "fully loaded" 2006 Dodge Durango SLT V8 4x4 2006 Hummer H3 2008 Chevrolet Siiverado Ext Cab 4x4 2000 Dodge Ram Off-Road 4x4 Quad Cab 2006 Ford F250 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4 2008 Dodge Avengers "4 to choose from" 2007 Dodge Nitros "3 to choose from" Dodge Ram Quad Cabs $11,700 $13,300 SZ. 822,700 S_ $16,500,eoO $10,700 8]6,900 Sb $21,675 S. $12,750 S]eo0 $12,690 $]8,750 SI2,490 817,658 sAe00o00 s18,6oo S 823,900 SAo0 824,900 SLO,9OO S 831,900 Starting at 813,900 Starting at 817,900 Starting at 815,900 down all rule and all authority and power.
