Their father, Larry Gregory sent the flag to NES after having it flown in Kuwait on April 27, 2003 and in Iraq on May 19, 2003 in honor of his children's school. Larry is assigned to the 1092nd urdt. Samantha (fourth grade) and Allen (sixth grade) led the pledge of allegiance at school last week and the plaque and flag adorn the entryway to the school for all visitors to see. Historic Weston State Hospital cur- rently open for weekend tours Constructed in the 1860s, the Old Weston State Hospital, which has been closed for over a decade, is a rare landmark, being the largest cut-stone building in the United States. Unfortunately, it has been occasionally vandalized since being vacated by the state's Department of Mental Health. On the other hand, a Lewis County preservation coalition is trying to save the building by publicizing its rich historic heritage via weekend tours. It's open Sat., 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sun., noon-3 p.m The general public is encouraged to visit and to take the modestly-priced tour. Many residents of Gilmer County worked at this once large and thriving mental institution. Main Ave Weston, WV Formerly Heilig Meyers Bldg.
