12 The Glenville Democrat/ Pathfinder October 14, 1976 Wildlife law violaters face new penalties A new law requries that persons causing injury, death or destruction of state wildlife must pay a specified replacement value, according to Dan E. Cantner. wildlife r eurces chief. Col. Raymon , Eye. natural resources law enforcemt chief, said, "It is a good law. The intent of the law is to assess an additional monetary penalty on game law violators to reimburse the state for game and fish taken illegally." ========================================================================== Protect Your Pedalers? Accordin Io the law. which became effective June i0. any person convicted of violating ally c.riminal law of West Virginia in which the violation causes or results in the injury, death or destruction of game animals, fish or protected species of animals shall forfeit the cost of replacing such wildlife, in addition to any other penalty to which a violator is subject. The values are as follows: $5 for each pound of game fish or protected fish: $500 for bear, elk or eagle: $200 for deer and raven: $100 a wild turkey, hawk or owl: $25 a beaver, otter or mink: $10 a muskrat, raccoon, skunk or fox: $3 a rabbit, squirrel, opossum, duck. quail, woodcook, grouse or pheasant and $5 for any other game or protected species of animal.
