4 The GlenvUle Democrat-Pathflnder i' The Glenviile Democrat Pathfinder High Col Much Ill Concord quarterback Dave Renner fired three touchdown passes here Saturday night in leading the Concord Mountain Lions to a 29-3 West Virginia Conference win over the Gleno ville State College Pioneers. The host Pioneers lit the board first in the contest when Steve Gandee booted a 41 yard field goal to give GSC an early 3-0 edge. The Mountain Lions battled back and tied the score when Dave Hodge kicked a field goal from 38 yards as the opening period ended. Concord took the lead early in the second stanza when Matt Bland raced 10 yards for a score. The Mountain Lions ad- ded another score in the se- cond period when Renner hooked up with Lynn Pendergraft on a 21 yard scor- ing toss. Hodge's kick gave Concord a 16-3 advantage at in. termission. In the third period, Renner passed 21 yards to Pendergraft. Hodge's PAT gave Concord a 23-3 lead. Finally, in the fourth stanza, Renner tossed his third touchdown of the night, this a 79 yard aerial to Bland. Hodge's PAT from placement failed making the final score. SUNCRAFT CAFE & BAKERY 429 S. Also, West Virginia State held on to its lead in the Southern Division. The Falcons, ranked eighth in the latest NAIA poll, scored a 40-13 win over the Shepherd Rams. Tailback Ed Greco rush- ed five times and scored three touchdowns in leading the Fairmont win. The West Liberty Hilltop- pers, who are tied for the top spot in the Northern Division with Fairmont, defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 22-15 as Tim Cortazzo rushed for 153 yards. The Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State held on to their Southern Division lead with a 46-6 win over West Virginia Tech. In the only other game, Salem battered Biuefield 51-27. The Pioneers will close their season next Saturday when they travel to Montgomery to battle West Virginia Tech.
